Unloading New Cummins 1500 kW Generators
Generator Source has increased its stock of new Cummins generators. We are increasing our stock to support the needs of our customers. Needs are driven by such events as voluntary and weather-related power outages. Cummins has a renowned reputation and is a favorite of many of our power generation technicians for their reliability and overall performance.

We recently received the following generator packages:
  • Cummins 500 kW generator sets: Quantity 2
  • Cummins 1000 kW generator sets: Quantity 3
  • Cummins 1500 kW generator sets: Quantity 2

Ready for Outdoor Operation

All seven of these generators are housed in sound attenuated enclosures. These generators are ready to be set on flat level ground and connected to the utility grid to meet standby power requirements. The enclosure and fuel tank have the following features:
  • Enclosure Standard Features
    • 14 -gauge powdered coated stainless-steel construction, listed to UL 2200 standards & NEC requirements
    • Fixed louvers and a cambered roof to prevent water buildup, rain cap, and rodent barriers
    • Spring vibration isolation system, enclosure mounts to lifting base
    • Emergency Stop button is externally mounted, horizontal air discharge preventing snow and leaf buildup
    • Engine start battery and charging system
  • Fuel Tank Sub-Base Standard Features
    • UL 142 listed, ULC-S601-07 listed & NFPA 37 compliant
    • Tank-mounted mechanical fuel gauge, top-mounted leak detection float switch, low and high-level fuel switches
The engine, radiator, and alternator (generator end) are all mounted on a framework design inside the container. The included fuel tank in all model sizes allows these units to be considered a turn-key purchase. Once they are set on flat level ground, they are ready to be connected to the load to supply power.

All new generators have manufacturer's warranty attached, and all preowned generators must pass a 31-point inspection prior to being placed into inventory. Cummins QSK50 Diesel Engine

The Cummins QSK50 Engine is a 50.3-liter engine that uses a high-pressure fuel system capable of over 1,900 bar (28,000 psi) of pressure allowing for cleaner and more efficient combustion. The 24-valve cylinder head contributes to increased power with faster response time. The PowerCommand control software sends a signal to the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM). The ECM converts the signal into digital throttle signal for the engine's fuel system. The generator is a Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) and is a completely electronically controlled unit.

The generators are approved for standby operations. During power outages, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grants generator owners the ability to run generators on an unlimited timeline. They are equipped with the Cummins PowerCommand Control panel (see more below) and are an excellent generator to use in multiple generator applications.

The Cummins QSX15-G9 is a 6-cylinder, 15-liter engine that uses a high-pressure fuel system capable of over 1,900 bar (28,000 psi) of pressure allowing for cleaner and more efficient combustion. The 24-valve cylinder head contributes to increased power with a faster response time. The PowerCommand control software sends a signal to the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM). The ECM converts the signal into a digital throttle signal for the engine fuel system. The generator is a totally electronically controlled unit.

Cummins PCC Generator Controller
These generators are equipped with the PowerCommand control system. This system includes the AmpSentry protection that monitors the alternator (generator end). A Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal is utilized for throttle regulation. The controller is equipped with standard PCCNet and Modbus interface. The operator panel supports multiple languages.
