Portable 20 kW Wacker Neuson Gets Much Needed TLC
Austin Field Services Team Brings Portable, Trailer Mounted Generator Back To Life


Sometimes life gets in the way of basic maintenance. You might put off mowing the lawn for another weekend when a BBQ invite lights up your phone or you put off changing the oil in your truck because it was stormy that day. So, it’s no surprise when we get a call from a new client that needs their generator looked at and they just can’t remember the last time it was serviced.
 
“A customer called in reporting that they couldn’t remember the last time their 20 kW Wacker Neuson trailer mounted genset was serviced, but knew that it had been a while,” said Chris Betros at Generator Source Austin. “They were looking for a cost-effective solution to get the portable unit serviced. The customer stated that it’s a job site generator for construction & remolding projects and that it accumulates a lot dust and dirt.

Wacker-Nelson-1-(Custom).jpg“Our team wasted no time, providing an oil change and filter service on the unit,” added Betros. “We soon discovered that the unit’s air filter was clogged due to all the dirt from the past construction sites as well,” said Chris. “We took an air filter to the site as a precaution and after originally looking at blowing out the filter, we advised the client that a new filter was the way to go.
 
“We discovered that the unit’s air filter had a manufacture date of April 2019,” said Chris. “This was right at the date to replace due to age. Typically, air filters have a 5-year life span depending upon site and service conditions of course.
 
“We spoke with the customer and explained the findings and they approved the air filter replacement,” continued Betros. “We continued with the service and cleaned the unit, after which we block loaded the unit at 100% load at an initial start and then load tested the unit to 80% load for 2 hours. The unit did exceptionally well with no other issues or findings to report.”
