Standby Generators Key To Water Treatment Plant Ops
Just Another Example Of How Industrial Standby Generators Quietly Make A Difference In Our Lives And How Generator Source Keeps Them Running

Water treatment plants play a vital role in our society. They not only filter and treat water, but if they stopped running, there would be a massive problem affecting your daily life. So, pay attention, here’s another reason standby generators are key to daily life and that’s why we were called to a location recently!

20240611_165729-(Custom).jpg“If a water treatment facility is without power, a backup generator kicks on and the plant runs as normal until power is restored,” said Oliver in Pensacola. “If there’s no power, that would result in all kinds of problems and contamination so drinking water would be unsafe.”

Well, Oliver we can’t have that! Oliver and his team were at a facility this past week swapping out an older 900 kW Cummins for a newer, updated 500 kW diesel unit.

What does a project like this entail? You are looking at a complete decommissioning of the older unit, pick with a crane, lift and remove, placing on an awaiting flatbed. Then it’s time to install the new unit!

What Does A Decommissioning Include?

Besides the obvious lift and place on a semi-truck flatbed for shipping off site, there is a lot to be done before a crane can pick the generator and it’s not as easy as just pulling a plug. A decom project includes:

Disconnecting cables from generator circuit breakers for generator unit
Disconnecting and removing a circuit breaker cabinet
Removing all remaining fuel from the tank
Preparing the generator and enclosure for the crane
Preparing the generator by wrapping the unit for shipping
We Are Buyers Too!

Yes, we are often buyers of used gensets. Handling numerous decommissioning projects, Generator Source makes purchases of used, surplus, low-hour, well-maintained generators. They are shipped to one of our yards-- sometimes on somewhat rare occassions-- we ship directly from a decom site to a new client, doing all maintenance and our 31-point inspection process, as well as the final load bank test on location.

For the most part they are shipped directly to one of our locations. From there they are load bank tested and put through a 31-point inspection process. We then guarantee these units in our sales process.

If you have a generator to sell, not only can we handle the decom but we can manage the entire project nationwide, even international. Click here for decom and purchasing details. For field service information for Pensacola click here or call (850) 378-1064.
